What are the instructions for using DayGlo Iron-On Transfer Paper?
*DO NOT use this product in laser printers or copier machines!
What You Will Need:
- DayGlo Iron-On Transfer Paper
- Inkjet Printer
- Iron
- Scissors
- Cotton or polyester blend fabric item
- Pillowcase
Step 1: Designing and Printing your Iron-On Transfer
- Design the image you would like to print using your favorite software.
- Test by printing your image on a sheet of plain paper.
- On your print menu, reverse (flip) the image before printing by choosing the correct setting according to your printer type.
- On your print menu, select the correct type of paper setting for your type of printer:
- Canon: T-shirt transfers
- Epson: 360 dpi photo quality paper
- Hewlett-Packard: HP Transfer Paper
- Insert your DayGlo Iron-On Transfer Paper in you printer so as to print on the blank side (do not print on the side with the line on it). Print your image.
- Set the printed sheet aside to dry for 5 minutes.
Step 2: Applying the Iron-On Transfer Paper to the Fabric
- Preheat the iron on the cotton setting.
- Remove any water in your iron, do not use steam.
- Place the pillowcase flat on the ironing surface with the open end hanging over the end.
- Place the article that you wish to transfer on top of the pillowcase.
- Center the transfer on the fabric item, image side down.
- Using firm pressure, slowly move the iron from one side to the other. Be sure to pass over all edges and corners. Keep your iron moving at all times. Use this chart as a guideline for ironing time:
- Full page design: 3 minutes
- 1/2 page design: 11/2 minutes
- 1/4 page design: 1 minute
- Place the iron aside and allow the transfer to cool for at least 2 minutes. Peel the transfer from one corner using firm, steady pressure.
Washing Instructions
- For best results, do not wash the transfer for 72 hours.
- Turn the garment inside-out before washing. Wash the garment in cold water using color-safe detergent (do not use bleach). Immediately after washing, place the garment inside-out in your dryer and dry on a low heat setting.
